Rodenator for Hire

We first saw this product at the Spruce Meadows Equi-Fair, 2007. By using a tool that resembles an overgrown tiger torch, a mixture of oxygen and propane is injected into the burrow, then triggered with a spark.

When we first acquired the property, the gophers had already won!! Walking across the field was difficult. The majority of the property was worked up and cropped for three years before seeding to native grasses. This helped at first, but the gophers and moles are already re-invading with a vengeance.

Strychnine-laced oats are not an option! There is too much of a risk to birds and other wildlife, as well as the hazard posed by dogs ingesting poisoned gophers. Additionally, strychnine causes death by internal bleeding; it is neither quick nor painless. Shooting them is not an option, either. You cannot ensure a clean kill and again the gopher crawls away to a slow, painful death. Those that die create a biohazard.

With Rodenator, animals in the den are killed instantly by concussion and pressure change. The burrow collapses and the animals are buried underneath, removing any biohazard. Rodenator works for all burrowing pests.

To prevent fire, we carry a hundred gallon tank of water and a fire extinguisher. Holes are watered first and minimum propane injection guidelines are adhered to. Appointments may need to be rescheduled in case of excessive wind or fire bans.
