Anivac Animal Bathing System/Pure Oxygen
Frequently Asked Questions
At trade shows and demonstrations, there are always questions about Anivac. Here are the most frequently asked questions and responses.
- How noisy is the machine?
- About the same as a household vacuum.
- Do you have to use Pure Oxygen shampoo?
- No, you can use any no rinse product, but at $59.99/4L you
are getting both economy and biosecurity with Pure Oxygen's
disinfecting, antifungal and antibacterial properties.
- How much shampoo do you need?
- Manufacturer suggests 125ml per wash. However, I have very
Soft water and have used as little as 30 with satisfactory results if I am just cleaning. I use the suggested amount when I am treating something. So
your first gallon will last quite a while.
- Can you use the machine as a dry vacuum?
- All the models except the Pro can be used as a dry vacuum.
The Pro does require water running through the pump.
- Do the machines heat the water?
- All the models except the EcoWashnVac have a heater. However,
I've gotten around this problem with a heater stick from my local
farm store and a 5 gallon bucket.
- What if I, or my horse, don't like it after I purchase it? It's a lot
money.
- Animal Care Solutions (Canadian Distributor) and Anivac First
(Global Distributor) are so sure you'll love your machine that each
machine comes with a 30 day unconditional money back guarantee.
- How hard is it to train your horse?
- Most horses take to the Anivac the very first time by lowering
Their head and chewing because within the first five minutes.
It's mostly a matter of reading your horse and taking your time.
Generally it is easier to acclimatize a horse to the Anivac than it
is to the wash rack.
- Will it dry out my horses coat with frequent bathing?
- No, actually the opposite is true. With skin up bathing
you are stimulating the natural oils at the follicle level
for an amazing shiny, healthy coat.
- What about winter bathing?
- You can safely use Anivac all year round. Of course
clipped horses will dry faster, but we use it to take off
the worst of the sweat off after a ride on a nice winter day; blanket the horses, turn them out and remove the blankets later in the evening.
- How much water do you use?
- On your first deep cleaning it will take you anywhere from
3 gallons to 10 gallons to get a thorough clean, as well as
considerable clean. But the deep clean lasts for at least two
weeks. Or, using it lightly on a a regular basis will result in the
same clean. After that, you can truly clean your horse with
less than two gallons of water. AND, you stay clean and dry
- Do you need a wash or grooming stall?
- No, that's the beauty of Anivac; all you need is an
electrical outlet and an extension cord. Many clients
use their live in trailers as a base. We wash our stallions
right in their show stalls while they eat.
- What if something goes wrong with the machine?
- You have a full year warranty for service, parts and
repair. After that, we'll still try to provide service, as our
customers usually become our friends, but anything major
can be repaired with off the shelf parts from a small appliance repair.
- Where can I buy more shampoo or Fungal Wash?
- Pure Oxygen is a trademarked name registered by Anivac.
Currently, you need to get product from an Anivac dealer, but
we always have some in stock and will do our best to get it to you.
- How is this different from a steam cleaner or pressure washer?
- First of all the PSI, while powerful is not blasting; the curry comb
finger nozzles provide a deep massaging effect. Steam cleaners
force water into the carpet fibres and then vacuum up loosened
particles. With Anivac, you get skin up bathing.
- Do I have to pay for it all at once?
- No, Marsh Haven Farm will accept 4 post dated cheques, or
work through one of the lease companies set up by our distributor,
Animal Care Solutions, to find a payment plan that suits your budget.
We also have a Preferred Partner Program for referrals resulting in
closed sales that can help you save for your Anivac, or, embark
on your own rental program.
- Will the Accelerated Hydrogen Pure Oxygen product bleach my
animal's coat, as it is basically hydrogen peroxide?
- We have had reports of slight discoloration on dark coats in the
case of repeated or intense applications of Fungal Wash for a specific
disorder. However, this should not be the case, as Pure Oxygen is at
a .5% concentration compared to over the counter product at 3%, or hair
coloring products at 6%.
- What about manure stains? Will they come out?
- A manure stain of some age does actually dye the skin, but
with repeated attention, you can usually get the stain out. For
new stains, the stain is sucked right off, usually in one pass.
- Is the Anivac system only for horses?
- No, in fact, the inventor's intention was to find a way to keep his
Newfoundland dog clean and fresh smelling without a trip to the
Groomer, or a huge mess. I clean my St. Bernard on a beach
blanket while watching TV. It is also awesome on show cattle, as
they have far fewer curves than horses or dogs. By leaving the coat
damp dry, it significantly reduces the time required for blow drying AND
used against hair growth patterns the hair is already drying in the right
direction. After the show ring, all the laquers and polishes are sucked
right off. We've also had a lot of success removing and treating tag.
We don't recommend Anivac for heavy woolly coats like sheep, llamas, or
alpacas.
If you have a question, I haven't answered, please forward it to me, so I can add the response.
